... almost home.
As you know I've been worlding building for a place to make new stories and playing dnd campaigns.
When I started i want to bring along some of my beloved characters from my old world. I did wonder at the time if i should leave them behind but I'd grown too fond of them to do that. In bringing them over though I've had to 'change' things. adventures they'd had were gone, backstories to specific to the other world lore, and other stuff. Lix has a different setup and one that has a good setup for story making thou i have had to clear out the clutter of her heritage and setup a new one for her just as interesting thou not as epic.
the twins fitted in seamless! primarily because they were quite a blank canvas, not much had happened and they're now continuing in the direction I always wanted ... thou with much more roguish sass than i originally planned ...
Teb, oh boy, complete upheaval! some things were integral to her behaviour and outlook on the world but due the complete reversal of lore from the old world to this one its been more difficult. Primarily one being that she was 3/4 dragon in a world where they can be benevolent, with a new world where dragons are on the whole evil this was a problem but one i wasn't shying away from. So I did what i always do, i went back to the blueprints. Keeping in mind what i wanted her personality and temperament to be I started to play around in the world and its newly formed lore to see what would fit in where. I would play out scenes in my head to see if it worked and retweak bits. Bowen also had trouble too, his history isn't as dark as his previous incarnation but I balanced that with dark twists in his current life. Theres still work, but they're starting to transplant in this world quite well!
The thing that were crucial to keep with Teb was her pride, intellect, curiosity, and drive to do good despite the costs. Some things I'll have to put to bed are her blind obsession of jewellery, some can be preserved but not to extent as her previous incarnation, her naivety to her appearance, she'll still have a sheltered life but fed fear from her father. In all honesty, these were played for giggles and tropes.
the thing is, though the journey was bumpy at first and wondered if it was worth it, it was. I think more in the vein of this new world, Syia, than the old one now. The new possibilities are exciting
speak of which, I've asked to run a campaign in this world and did a session last week of complete improv ... no one noticed. wont be so lucky this week ...
